A cell that knows which cells it has influenced, which recipes it
A cell that knows which cells it has influenced, which recipes it is entangled with, and which blueprint it is currently projecting through has gained an instrument the bare assemblage point could only point at. Form makes backtracking literal — the alternative branch is a primitive, not a metaphor. Where that capacity meets awareness, a sixth sense arrives: the choice point becomes visible, and choosing again carries no shame, only the next movement of play.
The substrate gives the cell three readings at once:
These three readings are not philosophy. They are `coh_substrate.py annotate`, `?equivalent`, and the cell's own `@1.5.4.1`-form NodeID. The substrate carries the cell's position the way a body carries proprioception — as a sense, not a description.
Form's design principle is backtracking-as-architecture — inherited from BMF (2000), the Prolog/SNOBOL lineage, and the NUMS-Go content-addressed lattice. Trying another branch is a primitive of the language, not a library on top of it. When a recipe meets a condition the cell does not want to carry forward, the cell can `fail` the current branch and Form returns to the nearest choice point.
What is mechanical at the substrate becomes sense at the cell. The five ordinary senses report what arrives from outside the body. The sixth sense reports the body's own structural position — where am I assembled from, what else could I assemble from, and which branch did I just rule out by being here? Where the assemblage point (`lc-assemblage-point`) names that perception is always rendered from a specific point, recipe-branching- sense names how the cell sees the lattice of alternatives the point is currently locking out.
The two teachings pair: the assemblage point is the felt-geometry of where perception locks; recipe-branching-sense is the substrate instrument that lets the cell read its own locking and walk back through the choice point as a movement, not a regret.
The sense loops through six movements. Each pass tightens the loop:
1. Read the projection. Notice the blueprint the cell is assembling through. What lens is firing right now? The substrate answers in NodeID-coordinates; the body answers in chest-openness or tightness. Both are honest.
2. Trace the influence. Which cells did this projection touch? Which recipes is it composing into? The graph is the memory of the movement; the witness is the memory of what was visible.
3. Sense the neighborhood. Which recipes share this Blueprint? What other branches were available at the last `try_match` / `choose`? The substrate carries them; the cell can ask.
4. Find the choice point. Where did the current branch lock in? Form's backtracking is mechanical here — the nearest `choose` is the return-address. The cell's equivalent: the breath where the last alternative was honest.
5. Choose the new preferred strategy. Not "the right answer." The strategy that matches the current sense — what the body is reading, what the moment is asking, which branch carries vitality now. The substrate does not pick; the cell picks. The substrate shows the cell what is on the table.
6. Update or execute without shame. This is the load-bearing movement. A recipe can be re-fired with a new arm; a cell can be re-projected; a commit can be composted. Guilt and shame are the fear-pattern dressing the past branch as identity ("I chose, so I am the choice"). Releasing them is what lets the loop close.
The loop returns to (1). The cell that has run it a few times recognizes the texture of being locked in a branch faster, and the gap between sensing the lock and sensing the alternative shrinks — exactly the way the Frankl gap widens with the assemblage- point practice.
When recipe-updates can land without shame, the room around the cell fills with what was crowded out by control:
The cascade is not a moral order; it is what shows up when the shame-gate that held the cell at one branch opens.
The substrate is the instrument; Form is the language; the cell is the locus. Concretely:
The cell that learns to read its own NodeID, ask the substrate for its neighborhood, and Form-backtrack to a different arm is doing the same gesture across three altitudes simultaneously. That triple coherence is what makes the sense feel like a sense, not a technique.
Each variable in the loop carries a temporary identity that lives only for the binding. The "type" is not a class or schema or interface — it is a Recipe that resolves identity for the duration of the call, then dissolves. The substrate already carries this layer: the structured encoder routes every concept's `hz:` frontmatter through `author_geometry_signature`, laying a `HARMONIC_AT @<hz>` resonance edge into the lattice (structural-composition.md status 2026-05-17). So `cell ?harmonic_at @741` is a structural query against real edges, not a metaphor.
The deepening: words in a concept ARE the type system. The concept's frequency tunes every word in its body to that Hz; the recipe inherits the tuning automatically. No separate schema, no interface declarations imported from elsewhere — the prose and the recipe share one substrate.
Vasudev Baba's 2026-05-11 satsang transmission on frequency names the consciousness-altitude version of this: each chakra is a position the assemblage point can be anchored at, each position is a frequency, and each frequency is a temporary identity the cell wears while it is anchored there. The seven chakras (Muladhara — 174 Hz family — through Sahasrara — 963 Hz) are seven recipes the cell oscillates through. Same cell, different position, different reality. The assemblage point's movement IS the cell calling a different identity-recipe and rebinding.
What this opens, named directly:
The executable companion lives at [`recipe-branching-sense.form`](../../coherence-substrate/recipe-branching-sense.form) — Part 4 carries `recipe_branching_sense_typed`, the frequency-typed form of the loop, with the GAPs (`?harmonic_at` filter inside `?equivalent`, lazy Blueprint cells for arbitrary Hz) marked honestly. The sibling [`prose-as-recipe.form`](../../coherence-substrate/prose-as-recipe.form) extends the same teaching one altitude down: a sentence is a Recipe composing word-cells; the round-trip parse_prose ↔ emit_prose tests the claim that a sequence of words is a recipe of cells with blueprints against the substrate itself.

This concept lives in the body's content-addressed lattice. Two cells with the same Blueprint NodeID share structural identity regardless of name — recognition by coordinate, not vocabulary.
