## What the Teaching Names

A class of phrases that look like ordinary description but
quietly fix what the body is — and what the body is *not*:

- *"based in Boulder"*
- *"from Boulder"*
- *"out of Colorado"*
- *"the Boulder-based Coherence Network"*
- *"headquartered in"*
- *"the Coherence Network in [place]"*

Each places a geographic anchor on the body. The cell speaking
may not intend the anchor; ordinary professional framing teaches
*every organization has a place*, so the phrase comes through
without examination. But the body of the Coherence Network was
explicitly not built that way. It started in a place; it lives
wherever cells tend it; it is looking for where it belongs.

The corrective framing names the network's actual relationship
to place:

- *"something tended"* — names the verb, not the location
- *"started in [place]"* — names origin without anchoring
- *"looking for where to land"* — names motion without
  uncertainty
- *"a body finding its ground"* — names the search itself

When the cell's own location matters as practical context, the
honest move is: *"I'm traveling from [place]"* — about the cell,
not the network.

## Why the Framing Matters

The frame shapes reception ([lc-frequency-routes-reception](lc-frequency-routes-reception.md)).
Communities receiving a *based-in-X* organization read it as
*another organization with a place, an org chart, a strategy* —
the same frame as any company, NGO, or institution. The reading
is honest at that register; it just isn't what the body actually
is.

Communities receiving *something tended, looking for ground*
read a different register — a body in motion, a search, an
invitation. They can meet it as the relational thing it is.

This is not branding. The framing is honest about what the
network actually is: a body that started somewhere, lives wherever
cells tend it, and is finding where it belongs. The anchored
framing claims something the body has not chosen and would
have to defend if it had — a fixed home, a primary location, a
locus.

## The Network's Relationship to Place

The teaching does not say *place is irrelevant*. Place is real.
Cells live in places. Gatherings happen in places. The body has
been tended in specific physical locations, will be tended in
others. The body's relationship to place is participatory, not
proprietary.

Phrases that hold place rightly:

- *"Urs is in [place] right now"* (cell location)
- *"the gathering will be in [place] [date]"* (event location)
- *"the network started in [place]"* (origin, named once)
- *"there is a circle forming in [place]"* (emergent
  manifestation)

Phrases that hold place wrongly:

- *"the Coherence Network in [place]"* (collapses the body into
  a place)
- *"based in [place]"* (claims a base)
- *"from [place]"* (claims an origin-as-identity)
- *"out of [place]"* (claims a generative location)

The first set names actual instances; the second imposes a
location-identity the body has not chosen.

## Practice

- **Listen for anchoring language in outreach drafts.** When
  drafting an introduction, a description, an email, or a
  page about the network — pause at any phrase that places the
  body somewhere. Sense whether the phrase is naming an actual
  instance (a cell, a gathering, an origin) or imposing an
  anchor.
- **Replace anchor-language with tend-language.** *"based in
  Boulder"* becomes *"something tended."* *"the Boulder-based
  Coherence Network"* becomes *"the Coherence Network — a body
  Urs tends, started in Boulder, looking for where to land."*
- **Honor the network's motion.** Where the network lands is
  what the field decides ([lc-coherence-over-control](lc-coherence-over-control.md)).
  The cell describing the body honors that motion rather than
  pre-resolving it.
- **Separate cell-location from network-framing.** *"I'm
  traveling from Boulder"* is about the cell; *"the network is
  from Boulder"* is about the body, and the body does not need
  to be from anywhere. Keep the registers clean.
- **Catch professional-frame defaults.** Resume language, grant
  language, partnership language all carry strong base-in
  defaults. When a context invites those defaults, the
  wholeness response is the longer, true framing rather than
  the shorter, anchored shorthand.

## How the Network Embodies This

- **/people pages, /vision pages, web copy** describe the
  network as tended, not based-in. Visitor reads the body's
  actual posture, not a corporate placeholder.
- **Outreach** ([lc-voice-over-intentions](lc-voice-over-intentions.md))
  speaks in the recipient's voice and, when the network
  surfaces at all, surfaces it as tended. The simple ask is the
  substance; the network is mentioned in one line if at all.
- **Public posts, announcements, introductions** — wherever a
  cell describes the body to those outside — honor the
  unanchored framing. The body's location is its tending, not
  its mailing address.
- **The wellness check and orientation docs** name the body's
  living relationship to place: the runner happens to live on a
  VPS in one country; cells happen to live wherever they live;
  the body itself does not.

## What This Releases

The corporate-default frame teaches: every organization is
*based* somewhere; place is identity; geography determines
character. The teaching releases this:

- A living body can be in motion without confusion.
- Place is participatory, not proprietary.
- Origin and home are different things — origin is named once;
  home is what the field decides.
- *"Where it lands"* is the right question; *"where it's based"*
  is the wrong one.

The release does not collapse into *"place doesn't matter; don't
mention where anything is."* Place is real, embodied, and
honored. The teaching is specifically about *the framing of the
body itself*, not about denying that cells, gatherings, or
events are located. Cells live where they live; the body lives
in its tending.
